This workshop introduces participants to the Capability Maturity Model® for Business Development (BD-CMM) and how it can be used to help their organizations improve their capture and proposal outcomes. Using brainstorming and work sessions, the workshop allows participants to apply essential concepts and practices. Participants acquire:
- Working knowledge of the model itself, including process areas, capability categories, maturity levels, specific goals and practices, and maturity growth
- Understanding of how to effectively interpret the model within their own capture/proposal environment
- Fundamental experience in using the model to self-assess their own organization’s BD maturity and use relevant metrics to plan improvements and manage capability
Exercises are used throughout the workshop, but the centerpiece is an extended activity devoted to organizational self-assessment and improvement strategy development. At the end of the workshop, each participant will have a rudimentary concept of his/her organization’s BD capability and a starting-point to take home for deeper evaluation and possible implementation.
